Primary care practices routinely screen adults from around age 40 for early signs of cardiovascular and metabolic conditions, and those at risk are referred to health promotion centres offering lifestyle coaching, nutrition, exercise and stress management support — often with measurable results. Researchers note that Slovenia’s focus on early detection and systematic lifestyle support is linked with steady improvements in life expectancy and relatively lower chronic disease burden compared with some neighbouring countries. The model has attracted interest from health professionals across Europe as a best-practice example of integrating chronic disease prevention into routine health care.
