Background and purpose of the project

The purpose of the project is to establish a national telemedicine system that will enable communication between patients and healthcare professionals, as well as collaboration among healthcare professionals. It will provide the necessary digital infrastructure for telemedicine treatment, a unified electronic health record (eRecord), and a standardized administrative data model. This will ensure compliance with privacy, data protection, information security, data storage, compatibility requirements, and communication format specifications.

Project objectives

The objective of the project is to establish and implement a selected national telemedicine system that will allow communication between patients and healthcare professionals, and collaboration among healthcare professionals. The system will provide the necessary digital infrastructure for telemedicine treatment, a unified eRecord, a standardized administrative data model, and appropriate security and privacy standards. By December 31, 2025, the national telemedicine system will be used by at least 1,500 healthcare professionals.

• Integration of Health Insurance Institute (ZZZS) content and procedures
• Integration of central components with local systems

Added value

The project aims to centralize communication and provide healthcare professionals and patients with a simple and secure means of communication through a single point of contact – the zVEM portal.

Project partners: Ministry of Health

Funding: Recovery and Resilience Plan, adopted by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on April 28, 2021, serving as the basis for utilizing available funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
